This vintage pennant screamed out for a quilt to be created around it, giving a narrative to that iconic American couple: the high school football star and his head cheerleader girlfriend.


I kept to the two-color plan of the original pennant. The orange material is that weird fabric with little vents that is often (only?) used for sports clothes. The blue material is that mainstay of typical American wardrobes: denim. It's fraying naturally in places. The pennant is felt, as is the pom-pom fringe.
